Experience

WordPress development, WooCommerce engineering, and collaboration with agencies, founders, and their clients.

I started building WordPress websites in 2013. Freelancing taught me how to work with non-technical clients and turn ideas into useful websites. Long-term agency and product partnerships added technical planning, team collaboration, and responsibility for the systems behind those websites.

Some engagements overlapped: freelance and contract partnerships ran alongside other work. Dates below describe each engagement, rather than a single sequence of full-time jobs.

Senior Web Developer

The Edge360 — Design Thinking Agency

January 2022 – Present · Full-time
Miami, Florida, United States · Remote

At The Edge360, I work on bespoke, responsive WordPress websites with designers, content creators, and project managers. My role combines hands-on development with reviewing technical decisions, solving difficult issues, and helping the team deliver maintainable websites.

The work extends beyond getting a page to look right. I help connect the design and content requirements to the underlying themes, plugins, integrations, performance considerations, and ongoing maintenance needs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn design and content requirements into responsive WordPress websites.
  • Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins, including third-party API integrations.
  • Investigate loading performance and improve implementation choices that affect the user experience and search visibility.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and work through their causes, with attention to site stability and reliable behavior.
  • Review code, provide constructive feedback, and support junior developers as they build their skills.
  • Keep implementation and maintenance practices aligned with WordPress developments and security requirements.

VisionX Partners

July 2016 – January 2023 · Freelance

I worked closely with founder Abdo Riani and the VisionX Partners team on startup products, digital products, and consulting services. The partnership involved both building the websites and helping choose practical WordPress tools and implementation approaches for the business.

Working across launches and ongoing improvements taught me to balance delivery deadlines with maintainability. I contributed technical context to planning discussions and coordinated with the people responsible for marketing, client communication, and product delivery.

  • Develop and customize WordPress websites and plugins around the requirements of each product or service.
  • Work with the marketing team on webpages, funnels, and landing pages supporting product launches.
  • Recommend WordPress tools and workflows that reduce unnecessary operational work.
  • Contribute technical insights during strategy discussions, including how proposed features could be implemented and maintained.
  • Implement and maintain security practices for the websites and the information they handle.
  • Coordinate with clients and internal teams to clarify deliverables and keep launches moving within their deadlines.

Birdie SEO

February 2015 – December 2022 · Contract

At Birdie SEO, I developed website features, customized WordPress implementations, and worked through technical problems with the team and its clients. Collaborating with SEO specialists helped me connect development decisions to how websites are found, used, and maintained.

The long-term relationship also involved ongoing support and responding when something needed urgent attention. Across different projects and platforms, I learned to adapt to unfamiliar requirements while communicating clearly with the people relying on the website.

  • Develop and customize WordPress websites and plugins to meet client requirements.
  • Collaborate with the SEO team on implementation choices affecting search visibility, performance, and responsive behavior.
  • Join client discussions to explain technical options and help turn expectations into implementable requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical problems affecting website functionality.
  • Learn new platforms and techniques when a project calls for a different approach.
  • Provide urgent technical support outside regular hours when clients need help restoring normal service.

  • Customize BuddyBoss themes and the surrounding WordPress experience.

XWEB Consulting

February 2015 – January 2021 · Freelance
United States · Remote

I worked with CEO James Bastin on WordPress websites, eCommerce builds, and custom coding projects for XWEB Consulting and its clients. The work combined implementation with technical advice and resolving problems in existing websites.

Working across different client systems reinforced the importance of understanding an existing implementation before changing it. It also required care with confidential information and reliable communication around deadlines.

  • Develop and customize WordPress themes to suit individual client requirements.
  • Provide custom coding and technical advice across design and development projects.
  • Identify and resolve WordPress issues that had remained unresolved in existing implementations.
  • Work across eCommerce websites and custom-coded systems rather than a single project type.
  • Handle confidential project information responsibly while working under non-disclosure agreements.
  • Deliver agreed work within deadlines and maintain communication with the people depending on it.
